Background The CentOS team has released an updated ImageMagick library that unfortunately is incompatible with LiquidFiles. This got installed in the night leading to the 28th of April, 2020 and will affect anyone that has Automatic Updates or Automatic System Updates enabled on their LiquidFiles system (this is the default setting). What to do If your LiquidFiles system doesn't load properly after last nights update, please login as root on the console and run the following command to fix this: curl https://updates.liquidfiles.com/hotfix/libfix.sh | bash LiquidFiles v3.4.5 We will include more information in another email and we've just released LiquidFiles v3.4.5 that also fixes this issue so if your system is available, installing LiquidFiles v3.4.5 is the easiest way to ensure your system is up-to-date and stable. Updated info We got a couple of responses asking if this was a fake email. It wasn't, and we shouldn't have included a link from a non-liquidfiles.com domain for you to download the hotfix from. Should anything like this happen again, we will ensure to only use links to *.liquidfiles.com so that you can ensure you're not installing anything you shouldn't. We have also added an Important Updates and Hotfixes section on the documentation site available here: https://man.liquidfiles.com/hotfixes/ and included a link to there from the support site front page at https://support.liquidfiles.com. We work hard on keeping LiquidFiles as stable and secure as it can be. We have selected CentOS as it's base operating system as it's generally very stable with very few breaking updates. But obviously in this case it happened. We've got a few questions if we recommend keeping auto-updates enabled and we do, this sort of thing happen rarely and in the meantime you'll be better protected with up to date system libraries ensuring there's as few security and stability issues as possible. Reset root password instruction (if needed) To reset the root password, please connect some LF v3.x.x ISO image if you have from time when the VM was installed or if you don't have then download the v3.4.4 ISO from https://license.liquidfiles.com/downloads/previous/iso Please boot from the LiquidFiles cd/iso image and select "Rescue installed system". Go through the rescue configuration, you don't need to configure networking. At the end, please select "1) Continue" option and at the shell type: chroot /mnt/sysimage passwd root exit reboot Please make sure that you remove the cd/iso from the system when it reboots.
Is it possible to get a notification if hotfixes are needed and such issues may happen again? Even if they are rare! Or just a place to find this information very quickly: support-home, forum-sticky, etc. Feature Request: delay non-security updates for "3 or 10 or 15 days" setting? Thank you David.

Hi Johan, thanks for that information. Since we have been customers for about 5 years, i must have missed these options. But "postponing updates by x days" might be a solution for some customers.
