    Hello,

A user reported a strange new error when he's sending a link to a client.

    He gets this:

1 error prohibited this message from being saved.

You need to attach one file.

The error goes away after many tries (uploads)...

We haven't made any mods to the server and this is fairly new.

The email accounts haven't change so I don't have a lot of leads.

    Anyone has ever seen this?

    Thank you,

    D

This error usually appears when an external client is trying to upload a file to a FileRequest or FileDrop but the upload is blocked by a device like a FW, proxy or a WAF between the client and the LF server. The upload request does not reach the LF server so usually anything is logged in Activity logs in the LF appliance.
+ If this error was observed by all external clients then it is blocked most likely on the FW or similar device on your side.
+ If you observed this behavior only when are uploaded only some specific files like pdf then it could be a WAF or application layer proxy or a DLP on your side which is configured to check and block some content types.
In this cases you need to check the logs on that device and find out which policy steps in.
+ If this happened only to one external client it will be a FW, proxy or AV shield on their side which is interfering.

    Hi David,

I am still investigating where and how many users if any (+1) are affected. I am suspecting its from the client own LAN and network equipment.

It really sounds like its a unique case and your lead on something filtering the upload is appreciated.

    Thank you.

If this is happening to one or few users when they are uploading from the local subnet but you could not reproduce it when you uploaded from the same LAN, then it could be something which is interfering on the PC of that user(s).
I.e. it could be AV shield or some 3rd party plugin in the browser or outgoing proxy or a VPN.

    Hi David,

The unique user that had the error also reported problems with his internet connexion as a whole. The provider change the modem since and the error is gone...

So yeah sometimes it's actually on the user network side!!!! ;)

Thank you for your time and knowledge, you are appreciated!
