Some of our users have a hard time getting their head wrapped around "highlight/copy/paste", so it would be great if it was easier for users to send their Dropbox URL to someone. Here's a few ideas on how to accomplish that (any one of them would work):

    - A button that goes to a form where the user can fill in e-mail address and Fileappliance would e-mail a link to the user's dropbox URL

    - A button that copies the URL in to the clipboard

    - Make the URL a "mailto:" link that sets a default subject and message body

    - Even as a last resort, make the URL a regular link so users can right-click and select "Copy Link" to put it on the clipboard (or Send Link within Firefox)

Amazing that select, copy and paste could be a problem :)

The next major version will have buttons that copies the URL into the clipboard.

Hello Johan, how about a new check-box below the 'Send a copy to myself' option that will include the user's Dropbox URL in outgoing messages? It would be even better if it included the link 'Send files to username' or something like that.

    Hi Bill,

Sounds like what you're really after is a way to include a signature when writing the message?

    Hi Johan,

Yes, this seems like it would be a nice feature.

Ok, version 2.3 adds a couple of these features. There's now a File Request feature for ad-hoc requesting of files, sort of like sending an email as proposed in this ticket. There has also been clipboard copy buttons added to make it easier to copy and paste the Filedrop URL.
