The Filetransfer Appliance will have the ability to store groups of files that a user can see from the web interface. This functionality actually comes from another feature request titled Create a GroupBox with Authentication by Eric Rodziewicz. The GroupBox with authentication or security permissions is a great idea - however, I would like to expand on it. If GroupBoxes are implimented, files should be uploaded to them without the need of a message being attached to it. Once a file is uploaded to the GroupBox, all members of that GroupBox will be notified of the new file - no message text needed, just a notification that a new file is available for download. When users access the GroupBox in the web interface, they will be presented with a GroupBox title, its members, and a listing of all files in that GroupBox as clickable links - as well as the MD5 and SHA-1 hashes for each file. When a file is downloaded by any member of the GroupBox, the user that initially uploaded that file should receive a notification that it has been downloaded and by whom. Members of the GroupBox will be able to be added and deleted by the GroupBox Manager. The GroupBox Manager will be the person that createdthe GroupBoxin the first place. This option should be available to all users. As a GroupBox Manager, this user should be able to manage only the files in their GroupBox - they should be able to add and delete files. They should also be able to promote Receive external clients to Remote external clients; as well as demote Remote external clients to Receive external clients. The GroupBox Manager (as well as the Administrator) will be able to set expiration of a GroupBox. The GroupBox expiration will be the date or time peroid for which its contents are available for download - afterwhich the GroupBox is removed and its contents are purged from the appliance. Remote external clients that are members of a GroupBox will be able to upload files directly to the GroupBox. This feature will be tremendously helpful when working in a project team with many clients. This will provide a simple listing of all files needing transmission to many people - without cluttering the users inboxes. File versioning and markup are completely unnecessary here - this will only function as a small file repository on a per project basis.

We would also use such a feature. Often our Engineers need to download the same files over and over again, like Driverpacks or Setup-Kits. I would imagine a Download-List after the Login would do the trick.
