Our link between both location are of at least T3, but with latency between continents files are going at T1 speed. By being able to chunk the file in pieces and send multiple stream and less acknowledgement, our files would download/upload file a lot faster.

With a HTML5 capable browser that's already what they use, but they send files one after another, but that's a browsers limitation. If you use a third party download accellerator, that will work fine as well. The system will detect when the complete file has been downloaded.
